CSS: Adding CSS on WordPress

CSS stands for “Cascading Style Sheets” and is a programming language used to apply style rules to HTML elements.

To keep it simple, CSS is the language that determines how a webpage will “look”.

There are plenty of ways to apply CSS rules on a website. Normally the most convenient way is to create a separate CSS document to edit. In wordpress though, because each post on dedarwin.net is considered to be individual to each student, the two best way to apply CSS is to edit the post itself in either of the following ways:

  • By using the “style” property within an HTML element directly. Look at the code below for an example.
  • By using a “class” or “id” property on an HTML element. Once either a “class” or an “id” is named, that name can be used under a <style> tag to apply CSS rules. Look at the code below for an example.
